The other night I had what could only be described as the quintessential Portland evening on the town. It was a strange night, as many nights here can be. We found ourselves with Monday off, which absolutely never happens. When it does, we like to head to ‘short-shorts’ night at the Tonic Lounge because you get buy one, get one free wells. Being the thrift-conscious folks we are, we like to hit up this deal when we can. As the name implies, you must wear short-shorts to receive this deal. Also I was told I could bring my dog, so….
I’m super-awkward showing this much skin in public, but free drinks is free drinks!
On the stage there was a gigantic coffin filled with Voodoo Doughnuts. Why? I don’t know!
…And now the awkward pics of people with doughnuts…
Do sugary doughnuts pair well with PBR? They do if they’re free.
This bartender…let me tell you…the first time I went, I ordered a Vodka & Cran. He pulled out a pint glass, filled it up 3/4 of the way with well vodka, topped it off with cranberry juice, NO ICE, slid it to me, and said ‘I’m a really shitty bartender’. It was light pink and tasted like fire. You can probably see why short-shorts night is a special occasion.
Ham seemed confused, but excited as she lapped up all the rogue crumbs from the doughnuts and thankfully didn’t have one accident.
In addition to doughnuts and cheap booze, there was dancing and hula-hooping. Why? I don’t know!
Me cutting a rug with Mr.Ashe.
shirts were optional.
we drank, danced and made friends. A strange Portland night in all the best ways.
This is Elvis. He plays an epic DJ set
This gentleman, Kenric was kind enough to buy me a delicious raspberry drink
Hooray for short-shorts night.
Havent been there in ages. My old band used to play there a lot.
Say my fucking name!
